Adult Recommended Booklists (from Wolfner Library)
The regional talking book library in Missouri provides several recommended reading lists on several different subjects and genres. Many of these lists are also available in an audio format.

Edgar Award (Mystery)
Since 1946 the Mystery Writers of America have presented the Edgar Awards, named for Edgar Allen Poe, the father of mystery.

Hugo Award (Science Fiction)
Since 1953 the World Science Fiction Society has presented annually the Hugo awards, named for Hugo Gernsack, a writer, editor, and publisher, who is considered one of the founders of the genre.

National Book Award (Fiction and Nonfiction)
Beginning in 1950, the National Book Foundation has presented annually the National Book Award to American authors for literature published in the prior year. The purpose of the awards is "to raise the cultural appreciation of great writing in America," and winners are announced each year in November.

RITA Awards (Romance)
Since the early 1980's, the Romance Writers of America have annually recognized the best in the romance genre in several different catagories.

Spur Award (Westerns)
Given annually for distinguished writing about the American West, established in 1953 by the Western Writers of America.
